The Professional Women’s Hockey League handed Toronto forward Brittany Howard a one-game suspension for a cross-checking incident in Toronto’s 3-0 win over Montreal last Friday.
In addition, the St. Thomas native and fellow Toronto forward Rebecca Leslie each each received 250-dollar fines for grabbing the face mask of an opposing player during a melee midway through the second period that saw six players penalized.
Howard has played all 16 games with Toronto in the inaugural season as the club sits atop the standings heading into the weekend.
They are tied with Montreal and Minnesota at 30 points but have a game in hand over both clubs.
Howard has 2 goals and 3 assists with 8 minutes in penalties thus far.
