The provincial government announced a $1.6 billion investment Thursday in housing-enabling infrastructure.
In his speech, Premier Doug Ford said this is a response to the concerns he’s heard from lower-tier governments.
$1 billion is set aside for the new municipal housing infrastructure program, and the water systems fund is seeing a $625 million infusion to add to the existing $200 million.
The new infrastructure program supports projects that allow for future housing growth and development.
Ford said reaching their goal of 1.5 million new homes by 2031 is more important than ever.
The program will support work on roads, water infrastructure, and more that’s all necessary to develop new housing. Premier Doug Ford said municipal leaders know best.
