Donate blood in Aylmer on March 28th – demand is high, and people need your help
Make your appointment right now – Canada Blood Services is coming to Aylmer on March 28th.
If you’ve never donated blood before, now’s a perfect time to start, Maureen Macfarlane, Community Development Manager at Canada Blood Services says that the next local clinic taking place at the East Elgin Community Complex in Aylmer has open appointments that need to be filled, and you can book them as late as the day of.
Macfarlane says that at the moment, the need for blood is higher than usual, and that’s due to dips in donor activity that have carried over from last summer, as well as Christmas time, when appointments are at their lowest.
Macfarlane highlighted the dedicated team of workers and nurses who play vital roles in the success of these clinics – she says that it takes as many as 30 workers and volunteers to make their mobile clinics run smoothly.
Although previously their mobile clinic offered walkin donations, Macfarlane says that pre-scheduled appointments streamline the process, helping staff arrange breaks, manage crowds, and offer the best experience possible.
Ultimately, Macfarlane says that the thing everyone at Canada Blood Services’ clinic shares – whether volunteer, staff or donor, is a knowledge of the profound impact that blood donation can have on individuals and families in need.
