Beginning the week of April 15th, the War Amps will be kicking off its annual key tag mailing campaign across St. Thomas and Elgin County.
The War Amps Key Tag Service launched in 1946 as a way to provide equitable pay to war amputee veterans, and to provide a service to Canadians that generates money to fund their programs.
Each tag has a unique code on it, and can be returned to their home by being dropped in any mail box in Canada, or calling a toll free number. They are then returned free of charge via a courier service.
The Key Tag Service continues to be a resounding success, with over 1.5 million sets of keys being reunited with their respective owners.
