A heads up to commuters as beginning Monday in St. Thomas, construction is set to kick off on Highbury Avenue.
This will see the extension and widening of Highbury to four through lanes and a shared center left lane from Ron McNeil to South Edgeware.
Work will also get underway on South Edgeware Road, which will be reconstructed from Harper Road to Centennial. This will include the installation of roundabouts at Ron McNeil Line, South Edgeware Road and the Hwy. 3 bypass.
While two lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction, motorists are being cautioned to expect some intersection closures and detours along the way.
Construction is expected to be substantially completed by December, with surface coat, line markings and finishing works occurring in the spring and early summer of 2025.
You can stay in the loop with all the updates on the project as well as view a video drive through on the City of St. Thomas website.
