A major undertaking is set to begin today as work kicks off on the extension and widening of Highbury Avenue.
The roadway will be changed to four through lanes and a shared center left lane from Ron McNeil Line to South Edgeware Road. Work will also get underway on South Edgeware, which will be reconstructed from Harper Road to Centennial Avenue.
This will include the installation of roundabouts at Ron McNeil Line, South Edgeware Road and the Hwy. 3 bypass.
While two lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction, motorists are being cautioned to expect some intersection closures and detours along the way.
Construction is expected to be substantially completed by December, with surface coat, line markings and finishing works occurring in the spring and early summer of 2025.
You can stay in the loop with all the updates on the project on the City of St. Thomas website as well as view a video drive through below.
