As myFM has shared in the past, Fresh Start Support Services is actively fundraising for their House of Homes- a new 12-unit apartment building to assist women in need and their young children across St. Thomas.
It will be located at 118 Centre Street explains Executive Director, Suzanne Flier, with much of the work still left to be done.
It’s a vital service for our community stressed Flier as just like everywhere else, there’s currently a housing crisis in St. Thomas-Elgin.
This new apartment will be a safe space for these women, with Fresh Start providing programs and services every step of the way.
Roughly $1.5 million has already been secured, with approximately $600,000 still needing to be raised noted Flier.
As they work to make House of Homes a reality, a Spring Fundraising Banquet and Dessert Auction has been planned for May 9th at the CASO Station.
Flier shares what can be expected at the event- kicking off at 6 p.m.
They’ll also be live music, conversation and of course the dessert auction adds Flier.
Tickets to the Spring Fundraising Banquet and Dessert Auction are $100 each or $800 to book a table. Each ticket does also include a $50 tax receipt.
Those interested in attending will need to preregister and Fresh Start asks that you try to do so before May 1st.
For any questions regarding the banquet, you can email info@fsms.ca.
