A 24-year-old London resident was lucky to escape a close encounter with a train in St. Thomas.
Trouble is, the train was the sculpture in the centre of the Gateway Roundabout at the west end of the city.
The driver had crashed their vehicle into the centre of the roundabout, narrowly avoiding the massive Scott McKay sculpture.
They were charged with impaired driving and driving with liquor readily available in the vehicle.
They were released with a court date and conditions.
The motorist was not injured.
The driver faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
