A Saturday morning staple in St. Thomas returns this weekend as the Horton Farmers’ Market gets set to open for the 2024 regular season.
Just in time for those last minute Mother’s Day gifts, the market will transform from the Winter at Horton set up, to having both outdoor pavilions open again and the vibrant picnic tables returned so that visitors can enjoy their market meals and snacks.
For those unfamiliar, the Horton Farmers’ Market is a traditional Farmers’ Market that maintains a majority of farm vendors sourced from a 60km radius of the market. All of the vendors at Horton raise, grow, or make the overwhelming majority of what they sell.
We sat down with Sarah Noble, Manager of Marketing and Communication at the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation who explains further.
Adding that supporting the market helps to keep our hard earned dollars local.
It’s shaping up to be another successful season notes Noble with an amazing array of vendors throughout.
But besides the hardworking vendors looking to share what they’ve grown or created, visitors to Horton can anticipate live music, activities for kids and a slate of monthly themed opportunities to create extra special market memories throughout the season. Noble tells us more.
Noble also shared with us their plans for special evening markets throughout the summer.
The first one is set to take place June 5th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
To stay up to date with everything going on at the market this season, follow their Facebook page and website.
You can shop the Horton Farmers Market every Saturday morning in St. Thomas from 8 a.m. to noon until November 2nd.
