A partnership with Doug Tarry Homes and the Elgin Children’s Foundation is bringing about something sweet to the area on Saturday.
They’ll be hosting LemonAID Day across St. Thomas and Elgin County as an unique and engaging way to raise funds.
We sat down with Myles Proulx, Volunteer and Community Engagement Advocate with Family & Children’s Services of St. Thomas and Elgin County who explains the focus of the day.
It will be the first annual event here locally, with success seen across other organizations notes Proulx.
Over 25 lemonade stands will be set up throughout St. Thomas-Elgin, which will be run by volunteers, local families and community groups who signed up to support the cause. If you want to get involved on Saturday, Proulx explains how you can do so!
He says they’ll even have a map of all the locations available.
It truly will be a community undertaking adds Proulx, with a number of local businesses in addition to Doug Tarry Homes stepping up to show their support.
And as mentioned, all those donations will be put to great use.
Those who missed out on the opportunity to run their own lemonade stand can look forward to next year adds Proulx, as they look to make this an annual event.
The City of St. Thomas, County of Elgin and Township of Southwold have all declared June 8th as LemonAID Day.
Please note that the St. Thomas Police Service will be hosting their lemonade stand on Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their downtown office on Talbot Street for those who can’t make it out on Saturday.
A number of local schools will also be taking part during the week- all in support of this amazing cause!
