A major cabinet shuffle announced late Thursday afternoon sees Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Rob Flack moved out of the housing portfolio.
In the process he now becomes a full minister.
He had been Associate Minister of Housing as part of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, a posting as part of a cabinet shuffle last fall.
Flack was given a specific mandate on attainable housing and modular homes reporting to Paul Calandra, the new Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Flack is now Minister of Farming, Agriculture and Agribusiness, which builds on his agricultural background when he served as president and CEO of Masterfeeds Inc. in London, prior to running for office.
Flack had been appointed one of two parliamentary assistants to Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in July 2022, shortly after being elected.
Also in the shuffle, long-time Education Minister Stephen Lecce was moved to the energy portfolio, taking over as Minister of Energy and Electrification.
He swaps with MPP Todd Smith who becomes the new Minister of Education.
With the latest shuffle, Ford has created the biggest cabinet in the province’s history with 36 ministers.
