In the first beach water quality report of the season, Southwestern Public Health is advising of high levels of bacteria at Erie Rest beach in Port Stanley.
SWPH has updated its status to red, meaning high levels of bacteria in the water may pose a health risk and is it not safe to swim at this time.
All other beaches in Elgin county are reporting safe levels of bacteria after testing earlier this week.
Weekly beach water quality updates are available on the health unit’s website and also 24/7 by dialing 2-1-1, Ontario’s free information and referral service.
