The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 410 in Port Stanley continues to be a beloved destination for both residents and visitors to the village.
From the weekly activities like darts and euchre, to the Sunday Funday concerts in Veterans Park- the countless volunteers keeping things running ensure everything goes off without a hitch.
Not only are they giving up their time each week, but volunteers have decided to come together this summer and forgo their tips during Sunday concerts, instead donating them to Hospice of Elgin.
So far, $3500 worth of tips have been donated by volunteers, with an additional $10,000 given on behalf of the legion and its membership.
Br. 410 President Rich McClenaghan notes that this adds to the $10,000 they previously donated to hospice, with hopes of adding more in the future.
With construction now underway at the site of the new 17,000 sq. ft. facility, Dr. John Hofhuis with Hospice of Elgin stresses how vital these funds are.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 410 has been quietly making a big impact in our community, with $10,000 also donated to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital’s Transforming Tomorrow campaign at the end of May.
