A 39-year-old Oakville resident faces a variety of firearms charges after being arrested Friday in St. Thomas.
City police had been contacted to assist the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit (ROPE) with an arrest.
The individual was located and during a search a gun was believed to be in a vehicle.
The St. Thomas Police Street Crimes Unit searched the vehicle and a loaded gun and a magazine with 16 rounds of ammunition were seized.
The individual has been charged with:
- Three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
The individual was processed on the charges and held for a morning court appearance.
