The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) is on the brink of a significant operational shift as collective bargaining with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) intensifies.
With OPSEU legally able to strike starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 5th, the LCBO is preparing for the potential impact on its services.
The LCBO says stores will close for two weeks as part of its strike preparedness plan should workers walk off the job next week.
The LCBO says after the 14-day closure, 30 retail stores would open for in-store shopping but only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with limited hours in effect.
The LCBO adds it will continue to operate its online retail services for the duration of the strike.
During strike actions, the LCBO will ensure that alcohol remains accessible through its 2,300 private retail partners, including LCBO Convenience Outlets, licensed grocery stores, The Beer Store, and various winery, brewery, cidery, and distillery outlets.
LCBO Specialty Services and Duty-Free locations will also remain operational.
