The Aylmer Police were among area services putting an increased focus on road safety over the Canada Day long weekend.
Officers were tasked with enforcement of “big four” collision contributors, which includes aggressive driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving, and impaired driving.
From Friday, June 28th to July 1st, Aylmer Police conducted 6 hours of RIDE checks resulting in 19 roadside tests.
During that time, officers issued 2 tickets for lack of seatbelt use, 1 distracted driving charge, 9 aggressive driving charges, 14 other charges and arrested a male for driving while prohibited.
One motor vehicle collision was also investigated over the long weekend, with no injuries reported.
