Following another full day of searching the waters of Lake Erie on Monday, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will continue looking for the missing swimmer in Central Elgin today.
The search was temporarily suspended for the night, but Elgin OPP note that the search will resume this morning.
As myFM first reported, OPP have been searching for a 14-year-old London boy who went missing Sunday afternoon in the water off Port Stanley Main Beach.
Around 1 p.m., Central Elgin Beach Rescue witnessed a 44-year-old and a 17-year-old from London in distress. The pair were safely pulled from the water and advised a third individual was still in the water.
A group of individuals on the beach formed a human chain to comb the water near the shore.
In addition, Elgin OPP and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, OPP Aviation, the JRCC and the Central Elgin Fire Services joined the search efforts.
OPP advise due to the potential for adverse weather/water conditions and a concern for public safety they are requesting individuals avoid the search area at this time.
