In beach water testing undertaken this week, Southwestern Public Health is advising of high levels of bacteria at Port Burwell East Beach and Port Burwell Provincial Park, Port Stanley Erie Rest and Little Beach and Springwater Conservation Area.
The status of the beaches have been switched to red, meaning high levels of bacteria in the water may pose a health risk and is it not safe to swim at this time.
All other beaches across Elgin county are reporting safe levels of bacteria however.
Weekly beach water quality updates are available on the health unit’s website and also 24/7 by dialing 2-1-1, Ontario’s free information and referral service.
