Doug Ford is being criticized for a joke he made about sending overflow healthcare patients in the province to a new animal hospital.
He made it while standing in front of a new veterinary facility north of Toronto with a spokesperson for the premier later going on to say the joke was referring to the size of the building.
Opposition parties were quick to point out that long waits for diagnostic tests and emergency care is no laughing matter.
Liberal Health Critic Adil Shamji held a press conference and addressed this, noting the many Ontarians who have died waiting for these scans and surgeries.
A spokesperson for the premier says the joke was referring to the size of the 60-thousand square foot animal hospital.
