With one team already on the ice, the Elgin Imperials para hockey team is putting the call out for players to form a junior sledge hockey team.
The club was formed in 2019 and has competed every year since. It is comprised of players ranging in age from 16 to 50-plus with both males and females participating.
Vickie Taylor, team vice-president tells us about the Elgin Imperials.
The club is now looking to ice a junior squad with players 15 years of age and younger.
Taylor tells us about the current members of the Imperials.
She explains they are hosting an introductory try-out session Aug. 28.
Taylor advises the season runs from October through April, featuring league games and tournaments.
One of their players, Travis Topping, now competes with Team Ontario.
The try-out session begins at 3:30 Aug. 28 at the Joe Thornton Community Centre.
The team supplies the sled and sticks, you only need to supply your own hockey equipment.
If you would like to try out or for more information, contact Vickie Taylor and vicktb@hotmail.com
The Imperials would also welcome corporate sponsors to help with expenses like sleds and sticks.
