Southwestern Public Health this evening (Wednesday) issued a boil water advisory for a specific area of St. Thomas as follows:
Station Street, St. Catherine Street (north of Curtis Street), Mondamin Street (north of Curtis Street), Hiawatha Street (north of Owaissa Street), Owaissa Street, Antrim Street, Beverley Street, Omemee Street, Meda Street, Kains Street (east of Hiawatha Street to Station Street), Curtis Street (east to St. Catherine Street).
The advisory was issued by the health unit following water sample results that indicated the presence of bacteria.
While resampling is scheduled, the advisory has been issued as a precaution.
Medical officer of health, Dr. Ninh Tran, advises bringing water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, such as drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods, and making ice.
