With the city’s annual fire hydrant flushing program currently underway, staff are sending a few reminders out to residents.
From now until mid October, St. Thomas residents may experience water discolouration and pressure fluctuations as a result of routine water main flushing.
While water discolouration from the maintenance does not come with drinking quality concerns, residents are advised to avoid washing laundry if they do notice rust in the water.
The city apologizes in advance for any inconvenience but does note that the flushing program is necessary to ensure the delivery of clean, safe drinking water.
