A 3-day blitz build for the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin’s Project Tiny Hope is currently underway, with significant updates from day 2.
Kicking off bright and early at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Doug Tarry Homes, Wastell Homes, Collier Homes, Winmar Construction, MP Custom Homes, Mark Thomas, DHP Homes, Woodfield Design and Build and a number of other trades partners, hit the ground running to construct 8 tiny homes in just 3 days.
myFM caught up with Lindsay Rice, Executive Director at YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin while on site of the build, who expressed excitement on the progress.
Before day 1 of the build, each of the 8 homes were simply a concrete pad on the ground. By the noon hour Wednesday, 21 Kains was unrecognizable shared Rice.
While some finishing touches will need to be implemented after Thursday, the majority of work will be completed during this blitz notes Rice.
Adding that the work being undertaken is creating a new beginning for members of our community.
And it won’t just be homes being built on the Tiny Hope site stresses Rice.
She reminds residents of St. Thomas-Elgin that it’s not to late to support this vital project in our city. While homes are going up, funding is still needed to complete all 40 planned for 21 Kains Street.
