Here is a quick snapshot of what’s happening around the region over the next 48 hours.
A National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day ceremony will take place at St. Thomas City Hall beginning at noon. Alongside other community partners, a land acknowledgment, flag raising, and proclamation reading will take place. There will also be traditional dancing, with demonstrations and refreshments at the St. Thomas Public Library immediately following the ceremony. More details can be found here.

It’s Open Chess Night at the St. Thomas Public Library from 6:30 to 8 on Monday’s. Open Chess Night is a drop-in evening of chess, open to players of all ages and skill levels.
A Senior Writers’ Meetup is taking place from 6 to 8 Monday night at the library. Are you a senior who is passionate about writing? Connect with other writers, share ideas, and work on your projects at Senior Writers’ Meetup! Open to senior writers of all levels and backgrounds.
Tuesday Tales goes tomorrow at the library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Join the library team for a terrific time of telling tales! And yes–there will be singing too!
The STPL Book Club is back on Tuesday! Join the monthly book club from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Carnegie Room (Lower Level) to discuss unique books with others. In October, they’re reading Sociopath: A Memoir by Patric Gagne, PhD.

A “Community Connections” event hosted by Central Community Health Centre, GenWell, and St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership is taking place on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the the St. Anne’s Centre. It’s designed to help newcomers integrate into the vibrant St. Thomas community by connecting them with local organizations, agencies, and resources. More details here!

The St. Thomas Stars return to the ice Friday, where they’ll host the Fort Erie Meteors. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Joe!
