Elgin Ontario Provincial Police participated in the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Traffic Campaign, “Operation Impact,” from October 11th to 14th.
It focuses on improving road safety by targeting the “Big Four” driving offenses, including distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, and lack of seatbelt use.
During the initiative, Elgin OPP conducted over 160 traffic stops and issued more than 165 charges.
These included 114 speeding charges, one stunt driving charge, three seatbelt violations, six impaired driving charges, one distracted driving charge, and 26 other traffic-related offenses.
Additionally, officers issued over 70 warnings to motorists to promote safer driving.
