On Monday, St. Thomas Police hosted a Four Counties Traffic Initiative with counterparts from Aylmer, Woodstock, London and Stratford Police Services.
This initiative rotates through communities in the four counties, with a goal of addressing road safety by focusing on commercial vehicles.
During the operation, 59 traffic-related charges were laid:
11 speeding charges
11 seatbelt violations
8 distracted driving charges (for handheld devices)
6 stop sign violations
5 plate violations
4 charges for driving without a license
2 improper muffler violations
Additionally, three sets of plates were seized, and commercial vehicles were removed from the road.
Officers also issued 10 warnings to drivers.
The St. Thomas Police Service expressed appreciation to neighboring police forces for their assistance in keeping local roads safe.
