The annual Ed Yurek Memorial Euchre Tournament, hosted by Yurek Pharmacy & Home Healthcare, is returning on Friday, November 8th at 7 p.m. at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre.
The tournament is a charity event, with all proceeds going to Valora Place- Formerly Violence Against Women Services Elgin County.
“The annual Ed Yurek Memorial Euchre Tournament is a lovely moment to come together with laughter, friendly competition, and an opportunity to meet new folks while ensuring support for families who have experienced abuse in their pursuit of safer lives,” boasts Liz Brown, Executive Director of Valora Place.
“When we were growing up, spending quality time with family and friends meant playing a game of Euchre,” says Peter Yurek, co-owner of Yurek Pharmacy. “My dad, Ed, loved Euchre and supporting local causes. We are proudly continuing the tradition.”
He adds that “everyone who came out had an absolute blast. There’s a cash bar, lots of prizes, and I think Jim”, the winner of last year’s tournament, “is coming back to defend his title.”
Tickets can be purchased for $25 a person at Yurek Pharmacy (519 Talbot Street, St. Thomas), or at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Recreation Centre (225 Chestnut Street, St. Thomas).
