October 21st to 26th is Ontario Public Library Week, and the St. Thomas Public Library started off their celebrations Tuesday with their first-ever flag raising at city hall .
myFM spoke with Nadine Poulos, the manager of customer engagement and collections at the St. Thomas Public Library.
Following the flag raising, mayor Joe Preston joined library staff in their weekly Tuesday story time for youngsters where he read The Chicks in the Barn by Aly Fronis.
Ontario Public Library Week gives public libraries in Ontario the chance to reach out to the public and raise awareness about the valuable role public libraries have in a community, as well as the impact those libraries can have on lives of the people in those communities.
In addition to the flag raising, the St. Thomas Public Library hosted several other events over the week to celebrate Ontario Public Library Week.
Saturday Oct. 26th is the first annual Arts & Letters event at the library, showcasing artists and authors in our community.
Also falling during Ontario Public Library week is the 50th anniversary of the St. Thomas Public Library’s current home.
To celebrate, the St. Thomas Public Library is creating a community scrapbook.
The library is a popular destination and has been getting even busier over the past few years. And, if you haven’t visited in the past few years, you are encouraged to drop in and witness how the library has evolved over that time.
The St. Thomas Public Library offers the everyone in the community the chance to learn, to grow, and to try new things in a safe and welcoming environment.
