The St. Thomas Sports Spectacular has added some more names to its head table for 2025 and Blue Jays fans are going to be excited.
This beloved local event will take over the St. Anne’s Centre January 23rd, with podcaster and Toronto Star sportswriter Mike Wilner returning as emcee.
Announced by the committee on Wednesday was the addition of Toronto Blue Jays utility man, Davis Schneider. Known for his trademark mustache, Schneider took the MLB by storm in 2023 when he became the first player in league history to collect nine hits, which included two home runs, in his first three games.
Joining him will be Mississauga native Katie Vincent, an Olympic Gold Medal Canoeist. She took home gold in the C-1 200 metres event and bronze in the C-2 500 metres event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She also won a bronze in the C-2 500 metres at the 2020 Olympic games.
Previously announced names include NFL Hall Of Famer and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Andre Reed, Detroit Pistons legend Rick Mahorn, NHL Hall Of Famer Adam Oates, Olympic medalist Brendon Rodney and NHL player turned podcaster and actor Terry Ryan, from the TV series ‘Shoresy.’
Tickets to the event are on sale now and include dinner, autograph and photo opportunities, keynote addresses from the head table as well as silent and live auctions.
A portion of the proceeds from the St. Thomas Sports Spectacular will once again benefit local Special Olympic athletes and Community Living Elgin.
Just last week, committee members Sean Dyke and Dan Kelly presented a $20,000 cheque to Darren Connolly of Community Living Elgin, thanks to proceeds from this annual event.
