A new Facebook scam is circulating the area and St. Thomas Police are reminding everyone to stay safe.
Scammers are posing as friends on Facebook and sending victims messages claiming to be selling expensive items such as vehicles or equipment, for incredibly low prices.
If you receive one of these messages, please contact the friend who sent the message directly, either in-person or by personal cellphone number, to verify the sender’s identity.
If you suspect a scam, report the message immediately to Facebook and the St. Thomas Police.
