The St. Thomas Fire Department responded to a north-end home Tuesday morning after a fire broke out on the exterior of the property.
The homeowner called 911 upon discovering the fire, with everyone able to evacuate safely.
This recent incident notes the STFD, serves as a good reminder to be fire safe this holiday season.
Residents are urged to inspect Christmas lights and extension cords for damage, use only outdoor-rated cords outside, and avoid linking multiple extension cords together to prevent similar incidents.
Beginning Friday, myFM and the St. Thomas Fire Department will kick off our annual 12 Days of Holiday Fire & CO Safety Tips, which will continue the important conversation of preventing common yet avoidable accidents around the holidays.
