A 20-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing multiple charges following an incident at a Talbot Street retail store Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called around 1:45 p.m. by a loss prevention officer who reported an altercation with an individual previously trespassed from the store.
According to police, the suspect was asked to return items they had concealed in their jacket and leave the premises. During the exchange, the individual allegedly brandished a knife and made threats before fleeing on a bicycle.
No injuries were reported. Officers quickly located the suspect, who was in possession of the knife used in the incident.
The accused has been charged with assault with a weapon, theft under $5,000, possession of a prohibited device, and failing to comply with a probation order.
They were taken to police headquarters, processed, and held for a court appearance.
