This is an extremely busy time of year and an important deadline is looming.
Richard Auckland, president of Christmas Care reminds area residents tomorrow (Tuesday) is the deadline to register for this year’s festive food hamper and toy drive.
He noted an increase in numbers over the past five years, if not longer.
“In 2020, we had just over 3,000 individuals who were impacted by the program. Last year we serviced 3,500. The demand has increased for sure.
“We’re hoping people can take advantage of the program because we’re there for them. The idea is to be supportive.
“A lady last year proudly gave me a cheque for an amount of money and she said, ‘I used to be a client of yours and now I am able to give back.’ You know you help someone now and they will pay it forward in the future.”
Registration will close at 4 p.m. at Memorial Arena and Auckland stresses it is a deadline that, unfortunately cannot be extended.
Hampers will be delivered Dec. 16 and 18 with pick-up at the arena on Dec. 17 and 19.
