A 52-year-old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following a suspicious incident near Elm Street and Manor Road.
Police were called to the area after reports of a man attempting to enter the backseat of a vehicle that was not his. Officers located the suspect nearby, who was in his own vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway.
During their interaction, officers suspected the man was impaired and took him into custody. A Drug Recognition Evaluator later confirmed impairment by drug.
As a result, the suspect has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, failing to comply with a probation order, and having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
He was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
