A 54-year-old Aylmer resident has been arrested and charged with impaired driving after a restaurant employee alerted police to a possible drunk driver on Monday, February 3rd.
Police received a call from the concerned employee, who provided a description of the suspect and their vehicle. Officers located the vehicle a short distance away and conducted a traffic stop.
During the investigation, officers suspected the driver was impaired and administered a roadside screening test, which resulted in a fail. The suspect was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further testing, confirming a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.
The 54-year-old was charged with Operation While Impaired – Plus 80, processed, and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
Their driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle towed.
