The local community is coming together to support St. Thomas business owner Genevieve Kroeker, as she faces another difficult challenge after just overcoming breast cancer.
Kroeker was first diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35, enduring two years of treatment while working tirelessly to keep her business, Seed Confections, afloat.
After finally beating cancer and beginning to rebuild, an unexpected accident has set her back once again.
While shoveling snow, Kroeker fell and broke her arm—a complication worsened by the effects of chemotherapy, which has left her bones fragile. The injury required surgery, further extending recovery time, which will be followed by physical therapy.
As a hands-on chocolatier, this setback comes during one of her busiest seasons (Valentine’s and Easter), putting even more financial strain on her business.
As a business owner and community member that is always looking to give back, it’s now St. Thomas’ turn to show the love in return.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to help Kroeker cover business expenses while she continues to be off, as well as any medical costs and recovery needs.
Those who are able are encouraged to support the fundraiser, by either donating or spreading the word.
