The 2025 St. Thomas Polar Plunge is set to take over Railway City Brewing on February 25 as participants get “Freezin’ For A Reason” in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
The local fundraiser, hosted annually by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, raises funds to support Special Olympics programming across the province, ensuring our athletes have access to sports and training that’s geared towards their needs.
And members of the St. Thomas Police Service are aiming for a big goal once again this year shares Inspector Kim Manuel.
Participants of the Polar Plunge will need to come prepared, as they’ll be making the leap into a tank of freezing cold water in support of the cause. As a seasoned professional at this point, Manuel breaks down what to expect.
The event will take place outside at Railway City Brewing on Edward Street from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., with registration opening at 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be made available, with plungers invited inside following their jump to get warm.
Local businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate, with organizers welcoming any friendly competition among teams to see who can raise the most funds. Manuel explains how you can get involved.
Inspector Manuel also took the time to extend thanks to Railway City Brewing for hosting the event, Yarmouth Metal for providing the plunge tank, and the St. Thomas Fire Department for supplying the water and ensuring safety with on-site divers.
For those brave enough to take the plunge, it’s all about “Freezin’ For A Reason” while making a difference in the lives of local athletes!
