Those hoping to plan something fun to do over the Family Day long weekend can take advantage of free fishing across the province.
From February 15th to 17th, Ontarians can enjoy fishing province-wide without having to purchase a licence or carry an Outdoors Card.
During this free fishing period however, it is essential to carry valid identification issued by the provincial or federal government and should include both your name and date of birth.
Families fishing during winter conditions are also advised to practice proper ice safety habits.
For more details or to find places to fish this weekend, visit OntarioFamilyFishing.com.
Free fishing in Ontario will also be available May 10th and 11th for Mother’s Day, June 14th and 15th for Father’s Day and from June 28th through July 6th during Family Fishing Week.
