A 65-year-old Port Stanley man is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped at an OPP RIDE checkpoint in Central Elgin.
On February 14, officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Carlow Road near Bridge Street when they stopped a vehicle around 10:35 a.m.
After an investigation, the driver was taken into custody and transported to the Elgin OPP St. Thomas Detachment for further testing.
As a result, the 65-year-old has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He also received a 90-day driver’s license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The man has been released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas at a later date.
