A 44-year-old London man is facing multiple charges after an incident outside an Aylmer business on February 23.
Police were called to the John Street address around 11:35 a.m. after a citizen reported a man smoking cannabis in a vehicle.
Officers arrived as the vehicle was leaving and conducted a traffic stop.
According to police, the officer detected alcohol and cannabis coming from the driver and spotted a lit cannabis joint inside the vehicle. When asked to exit the vehicle, the driver refused and was arrested for obstructing police.
A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple open cans of liquor and cannabis over the legal possession limit. The driver also registered a “warn” on a roadside breath test, resulting in an immediate 3-day licence suspension.
The man is facing the following charges:
- Possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis (Cannabis Act)
- Obstructing a peace officer (Criminal Code)
- Care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor (Liquor Licence and Control Act)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
