A 72-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing multiple charges following an incident at a Talbot Street convenience store early Monday morning. Police were called to the store around 7:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an assault.
Investigators say the 72-year-old allegedly attacked an employee who tried to prevent them from leaving without paying for items.
The individual initially left the scene but returned shortly after with a large wooden stake, approaching the employee in another attempt to assault them.
The accused now faces charges of assault with a weapon and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
A warrant has been requested for their arrest.
