The hunt is on for a new fire chief in Central Elgin.
With Ray Ormerod retiring at the end of this month, the municipality has begun the search for an individual to head up Central Elgin Fire and Emergency Services.
The service is comprised of over 100 volunteer firefighters operating out of four fire halls along with Port Stanley Beach Rescue.
According to the job posting, candidates must have at least seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience – ideally as a chief or deputy – in fire and emergency management services.
Ormerod announced his intention to retire in January of this year and noted, “Serving as Fire Chief has been one of the greatest honours of my career.” Central Elgin Fire Rescue is an exceptional team dedicated to community service, and it has been a privilege to lead this team and support the safety of our community.”
At the time, Central Elgin Mayor Andrew Sloan observed, “His deep passion for our community and his experience and dedication to his profession will be greatly missed.”
