After a flurry of pun-filled, witty, and creative submissions, the City of St. Thomas has unveiled the top 10 finalists in its “Winter Warriors: Name Our Road & Sidewalk Fleet” contest — and now it’s your turn to help pick the winner.
Earlier this year, the city launched the community contest, inviting residents to suggest names for the hardworking vehicles that tackle 192 kilometers of snow-covered roads and pathways each winter. The winning name will be proudly displayed on a snowplow or sidewalk machine and shared across the city’s social media platforms.
Mayor Joe Preston has now reviewed all entries and selected the top 10 for a public vote. Here are the finalists:
- Betty Whiteout
- Control Salt Delete
- Edgar Allen Snow
- Flurrious George
- General Plows Chicken
- Pushy Mac Push
- Sir Plows-a-Lot
- Slush Crusher
- Snow Thornton
- The Abominable Snowplow
Residents can vote for their favourite name online until Monday, April 14.
One vote per person is allowed, with the winning name revealed during the Mayor’s Update on Tuesday, April 15.
