More than 68% of eligible voters cast their ballot during the most recent federal election – the most in a Canadian election since 1993.
That’s according to Elections Canada, which says more than 19.5-million ballots were cast nationwide, including over 11-million on Monday alone.
Despite a higher-than usual number, it still falls short of the record in March 1958, when over 79 percent of voters took part.
In Elgin-St. Thomas-London South, 64,798 of 94,247 registered electors cast their ballots or 68.75%.
This compared to the 2021 federal election, where 63,396 of 97,732 registered electors made their way to the polls or 64.8%, in the riding of Elgin-Middlesex-London.
