A new park is coming to Central Elgin, thanks to a partnership with the municipality and local developer, Doug Tarry Limited.
The new park will be situated in the Eagle Ridge subdivision, located near the intersection of Sunset Drive and Southdale Line.
The proposed plan includes two playground areas that offer various play features, as well as a sports court.
This includes a Senior Playground, designed for older children, offering a range of challenging and engaging play structures and a Junior Playground, tailored for younger children, providing safe and fun activities that foster development and imagination.
An accessible pathway will help ensure inclusively and ease of access for all visitors. In addition to the play areas, the design incorporates new seating overlooking the existing stormwater management pond and a shade structure, creating a welcoming and shaded environment for families and community members to enjoy.
The municipality has allocated $400,000 from development charges towards the park’s construction, while DTL will cover additional costs to complete the project. Originally slated for completion in 2023 or 2024, the project experienced delays but is now moving forward for 2025.
The Eagle Ridge subdivision, developed by DTL, encompasses approximately 29.98 hectares (74.1 acres) and is designed to offer single-family homes amidst natural surroundings. The new park aims to provide recreational space for residents and contribute to the community’s overall quality of life.
Residents are able to view the park concepts online and are encouraged to share feedback through the available survey.
