The United Way Elgin Middlesex has recognized Tina Swaenepoel as a local ChangeMaker, for her outstanding dedication to the Ignite Youth Centre in St. Thomas.
Described as someone who always goes above and beyond, Swaenepoel plays a vital role in the centre’s day-to-day success — organizing volunteers, sourcing donations, and even handling maintenance and repairs on her own time.
myFM was on-hand for the award ceremony last week, and caught up with Swaenepoel to find out what this honour meant to her.
The ChangeMaker Award celebrates individuals who create meaningful impact in their communities through passion, energy, and service. Swaenepoel’s selfless commitment to Ignite Youth Centre has not only helped to keep the facility running smoothly but also helped ensure a safe, welcoming space for local youth.
Swaenepoel says she can’t take all the credit however, as it takes a team of dedicated staff, volunteers and some help from those closest to her to get it all done.
