St. Thomas Police have arrested one woman and are searching for a second, following a stabbing incident that occurred downtown Sunday afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene around 2:10 p.m. on May 11, where a woman reported being assaulted by two other women known to her. According to police, the initial altercation began when one of the suspects attacked the victim without warning.
Although the victim initially left the area, she was approached again roughly a block away, at which point one of the suspects allegedly threw a knife at her from close range, resulting in a non-life-threatening injury.
Police arrived within minutes of the 911 call, administered first aid, and the victim was transported to hospital. She has since been treated and released.
An immediate search of the area—assisted by the Canine Unit and uniformed patrol—resulted in the arrest of the primary suspect. She was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court Monday (May 12) morning.
The accused is facing several charges, including:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Two counts of failing to comply with probation
The second suspect remains unidentified. Police are asking anyone with information or video footage to contact them at 519-631-1224 or submit an anonymous tip at stthomascrimestoppers.ca.
