A West Elgin man has been charged with manslaughter after an opioid overdose almost two years ago.
On July 6, 2023, Elgin OPP responded to a residence in West Elgin where a 28-year-old man was found unresponsive and who died at the scene.
The investigation determined he died of an opioid overdose.
On Monday of this week, members of the Elgin County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 42-year-old man with manslaughter and trafficking in a Schedule 1 substance.
He is in custody and will appear in St. Thomas court at a future date.
