St. Thomas Police have charged two men with impaired operation following separate incidents in local parking lots on Saturday.
The first occurred Saturday morning, when officers on patrol found a 52-year-old man passed out behind the wheel with his leg hanging out of the open car door.
Police say he showed signs of impairment and failed a field sobriety test.
A drug recognition expert later confirmed impairment, and the man was charged and released with a court date.
In a second incident later that afternoon, police were called to another parking lot after a 55-year-old man struck a parked vehicle and was slumped over the steering wheel. When officers arrived he was observed reclined in his seat and smoking a cigarette.
He was arrested for impaired operation, but later refused to exit his holding cell or provide breath samples.
He now faces charges for both impaired driving and refusing to comply with a breath demand.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
