As one of St. Thomas’s most trusted names in fresh food, Briwood Farm Market has been proudly local since its roots were planted in 1991.
Located at 1030 Talbot Street, Briwood has grown into a staple destination for fresh produce, bulk foods, grocery essentials, and a wide range of goods from local vendors.
Co-owner Brian Giles says Briwood’s commitment to Canadian and local products isn’t a recent trend—it’s been the heart of their business model for nearly 35 years. “It just makes the job easier,” said Giles. “You’re dealing directly with people in your own backyard—it’s personal, it’s daily, and it’s real.”
Step inside Briwood, and it’s easy to see that philosophy in action. Shelves are lined with locally made products, and shoppers are greeted by familiar faces. “When people come in, they see the same staff, the same local brands, and that builds trust,” said Giles.
Beyond their market walls, Briwood is known for giving back. They support local sports teams, fundraisers, and events—including sponsoring the daily playing of the national anthem at noon on myFM, a nod to their Canadian pride.
Despite global challenges and shifting trade dynamics, Giles says Briwood has remained steady thanks to their local-first approach. “We’ve always been about local. That hasn’t changed—and now more people are seeing the value in it.”
As the summer season blooms, Briwood is stocked with Ontario flowers, rhubarb, asparagus, and soon, fresh strawberries. Whether you’re preserving, canning, or simply enjoying the season’s best, Briwood continues to deliver quality with a proudly local touch.
For Giles and the Briwood team, it’s all about supporting the community that supports them—one local product at a time.
